Autumn is a transitional season that requires a purpose-built wardrobe. With cooler temperatures comes thicker and warmer fabrics, some in autumnal tones but others in bold striking looks.
The autumn season will see a split in fashion trends between the brands showing bold colours, patterns and statement pieces eg. Billionaire Boys Club and more neutral tones and relaxed fabrics from leading brands like Boss, Hugo, Calvin Klein and Ed Hardy.
Denim will be featured more than ever in many of the leading brands with the two dividing paths of comfortable slim fit styles and the emerging loose or baggy fits. Whilst the baggy styles have been featuring to a greater extent in young female designs they are taking longer to emerge in the men’s market. However, they coordinate with more relaxed outfits and provide a more comfortable experience than the spray on styles. The Tommy Hilfiger range will include these baggy fits. Distressed denim still features and is a strong look for some of the more street fashion conscience and will feature in the Calvin Klein range.
Colour trends include warm earthy tones like burnt orange, Terracotta, Khaki alongside neutral shades such as brown, beige and cream. The vibrant accent colours add some interest to neutral outfits but feature strongly in the statement pieces and pink is featured in many ranges.
The emergence of Ed Hardy as a leading niche brand last season will be strengthened in the autumn with a showing of tees, hoody’s and denim.
There will be more emphasis upon layering with tee’s over basic long sleeves to add colour and texture to provide a conceptual image.
Tracksuits continue to be strong fashion statements and will feature in all leading brands many of them in strong autumn colours.
Knitwear has been dominated by the popular quarter zip classic and this autumn will be no different. This look is synonymous with the Fred Perry legendary brand but will also now see oversized ranges from Hugo and Calvin Klein.
With the colder weather expected more padded and fleece based jackets will dominate the trend and at the top end of this will be the Moose Knuckles superb range of authentic styles and middle range will be focused on fashion pieces from Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
Whilst footwear is still dominated by casual trainers for across-the-board brands one stands out in the fashion end is the Boss range.
Whilst often overlooked, the headwear can make or break a trend setting outfit and so special attention will have to be made to the range of beanie hats and baseball caps in which Christian Rose lead the way.
